THE O’JAYS CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE “BACK STABBERS” ALBUM

(June 15, 2012—New York, NY) Grammy Nominated/ Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees The O’Jays will be hitting the road this summer as part of the 2012 “Summer Music Festival Tour,” which will also feature Patti LaBelle, Maze ft. Frankie Beverly, Babyface and Tank. The fifteen (15) city tour will kick off July 13 in Detroit, MI at the DTE Music Theater and culminate on August 11 in Los Angeles at the Gibson Amphitheatre. The O’Jays, will perform classic hits like “For the Love of Money,” “I Love Music,” “Livin’ for the Weekend” and more.

The iconic group, which consists of original members Eddie Levert, Walter Williams and new comer Eric Nolan Grant, will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of their gold selling (500K copies) breakthrough album Back Stabbers, which was released August XX 1972. The album spawned hit singles “Back Stabbers” and “Love Train” which both hit number one on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. It has gained the reputation as a landmark album of the early 1970s soul and has been cited by critics as “the pinnacle of Philly soul” as stated by Rolling Stone magazine’s Nathan Brackett and Christian Hoard in the new Rolling Stone Album Guide (2004). Back Stabbers has also been included in Rolling Stone’s list of 500 greatest albums of all time.

The O’Jays are also back in the studio working on a new album that will be released in early 2013.
