Kem Performs on “Promise to Love Tour” at Madison Square Garden with Jazmine Sullivan
Last night at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden, Kem made the NYC tour stop on the 2nd leg of his “Promise to Love” tour alongside Jazmine Sullivan and L’Renee. The nationwide tour has already been a huge success for the r&b star, and tonight was no different, as he performed before the thousands who packed in for the sold out show. The show was opened by Kem’s Kemistry Records label artist L’Renee, who warned up the crowd with her beautiful and booming vocals. Commanding the stage with the vocal power and stage presence of a true star, she proved tonight why Kem tabbed her as the first artist he’s introducing on his label.
Next up was Jazmine Sullivan, who was handpicked by Kem for this date once it was announced that Tamar Braxton would have to drop off of the tour due to health concerns. The r&b diva was an excellent complement to Kem, and most of the fans in the audience were excited to see her perform. She used the set to perform some new material from her recently released album “Reality Show” including the songs “Let it Burn” and “Forever Don’t Last”. She told the audience how heartbreak was the inspiration for the new music and how singing these songs was the therapy. Jazmine also performed her biggest hits like “Bust Your Windows”, “Lions, Tigers & Bears” and “Need You Bad” as her stunning voice echoed through the arena.
Finally it was time for the headliner Kem to take the stage. Nearly bringing the whole crowd to their feet, he grooved across the stage flanked by his two female background dancers. Commanding the stage with grace like a true veteran, Kem had an enthusiastic crowd moving along to each song. He performed many selections from his recently released “Promise to Love” album during the hour long set. Of course the rnb musician also went through his catalog of hit albums, performing songs from “Kemistry”, “Album II”, and “Intimacy: Album III”. It was a night of rhythm and soul as one of r&b’s signature artists once again left his mark in New York City.
