As Monica prepares to release her new album “Code Red”, it’s a good time to look back on her planned third album which eventually got shelved. The album was called “All Eyez on Me”, the follow up to her highly successful sophomore album “The Boy is Mine”, and it ended up releasing first in Japan in late 2002. The project featured production from star producers like Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. Unfortunately, the album would eventually get scrapped in the U.S. due to heavy bootlegging following it’s Japan release but also because the lead singles “All Eyez on Me” and “Too Hood” failed to take off.

Much of what was left over on the album ended up turning into Monica’s “After the Storm” album in 2003, like the single “U Should’ve Known”, but some real gems were left behind. One of those songs is featured here, the Bryan-Michael Cox produced “Searchin”. Featuring a choir singing throughout, the mid tempo jam has gone highly overlooked through the years.
