“The Roof” was the 5th single off of Mariah Carey’s 1997 album “Honey.” It featured the unlikely combination of a pop singer pairing with gangster rappers Mobb Deep. To make it even more unlikely, she utilized the group’s “Shook One’s Part II” beat for this song. Regardless, the result was something that worked out well, and marked the beginning of more frequent collaborations for Mariah with rappers in the future.
