Last night on an Infinity Luxury Yacht cruising around NYC, Elle Varner performed as part of the SOB’s Summer Splash Cruise Concert Series. Before she hit the stage, she was supported by opening acts Livre, Anthony Hall & Shaliek. When she finally did come out (the ship had make it to somewhere near the Statue of Liberty at this point), many of the nearly 1,000 adoring fans who were packed onto the ship made their way to get a glimpse. We’ve been covering Elle for a few years now, and the growth she’s made is astounding. She was able to comfortably command the stage all night, letting her quirky personality shine through. While going through songs from her debut “Perfectly Imperfect” such as “Stop the Clock”, “Leaf” & “Sound Proof Room”, she commented on how amazing it was to have people sing along to a song she created; and the fans seemed to know every word! Later as a special tribute, she called out her father Jimmy Varner to play keys for her on “Not Tonight”. She also made sure to premier new music during the show, including “Rover”, “Number One”, and an Etta James cover she’s worked on for months. After ending the show with her biggest hit “Refill”, she commented that this was a special night she’d never forget, and even took out her phone to take video of everyone in the room! There’s sure to be a lot of hype as Elle prepares to release her 2nd album, and deservedly so.
