This past Saturday night, The Soul Factory presented Syleena Johnson, Rell and Tamika Love Jones performing at Drom in NYC. This event was a great example of why YouKnowIGotSoul came on board as the media sponsor for The Soul Factory and are glad to be a part of it going forward. The event was opened by Tamika Love Jones, and independent artist out of DC who despite being six months pregnant, did an amazing job of warming up the crowd performing her original songs. Rell followed with one of his first solo performances in years, and didn’t disappoint at all. Although many of the audience came out to see headliner Syleena Johnson, the amount of love they showed Rell during his performance was undeniable. He took the crowd through his hits including “Real Love”, “Love 4 Free”, “No Better Love”, “Let Me Show You”, and his version of “Here I Stand” which he wrote for Usher. Finally, Syleena Johnson hit the stage and put on a show that gave the capacity crowd what they came for. Backed by her group Lakeshore, she had the audience singing along as she took them through songs from each Chapter (album) of her career. She performed a few songs from her most recent album “Chapter V: Underrated” and even did an acoustic song just to show the fans how she creates music organically. Overall, it was a great night for r&b, and the Soul Factory is an event you’ll want to keep on your radar!
