Motown Recording artist Kevin Ross will kick off a North American headline tour on May 24 at City Winery in Chicago, IL in support of his debut album, The Awakening. The intimate club run will include shows at SOB’s in New York City (June 8), the Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA (June 17) and Yoshi’s in Oakland, CA (July 18). Tickets for The Awakening tourgo on sale this Friday, April 21st.
The Awakening contains lead single “Long Song Away.” The track recently took the No. 1 position on the Nielsen/BDS and Mediabase Urban Adult radio charts and on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs chart.The chart-topping achievement makes Ross the first debut Motown artist to reach No. 1 at the format since 2010, according to Billboard. Spotify streams of “Long Song Away” have already surpassed two million.
Winner of an award at ASCAP’s 2016 Rhythm and Soul Music Awards show and a former BET “Music Matters” Artist, Ross was recently a special guest on Ro James’ XIX tour. He has also opened for Maxwell and Ne-Yo. Ross co-wrote Trey Songz’s Platinum-certified single “Touchin, Lovin” feat. Nicki Minaj. A Washington, D.C. native, he attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music and is now based in Los Angeles.
