You never quite know when we’re going to get new music from Maxwell, but he comes back in an impactful way with the new song “We Never Saw It Coming”. The new song is accompanied by a visual called “The Glass House” which you can view exlusively on Tidal.
The song and video are meant to evoke feelings of the world coming to an end; something we have to think about all too often in the social political climate we’re currently in.
The singer adds about the stirring song and visual:
“As an artist, I feel a responsibility to entertain as well as inform. In the words of the great Nina Simone, ‘it is the duty of the artist to reflect the times.’ If we are to leave the world better than we found it, we all have to come together, unified in love, for our fellow man and this beautiful planet that we all call home.”
Maxwell last released his fifth studio album “blackSUMMERS’night” back in 2016. He’s currently working on the third part of the trilogy, titled “blacksummers’NIGHT”.
