Pia Renee The Return EP

Some may remember former American Idol contestant Pia Renee (Easley), who today recaps her life since appearing on Season 7 with the new EP called “The Return”.

Many “Idol” fans may not remember a young African-American background singer who auditioned with a blondish Mohawk and a rich soulful rendition of “I’ve Got To Use My Imagination” by Gladys Knight on television. But I’m sure Simon Cowell remembers her as he praised her for her sound and unique look.

“I like you. You’re interesting. You don’t have the demeanor of a backing singer. Some of them come in like whipped donkeys. You’re confident; you’re stylish. I like you. I like you a lot.” – Simon Cowell

Since then, vocalist and bassist Pia Renee has been through a lot of life’s ups and downs – single parenting, a series of epic heartbreaks, and the earth-shattering loss of her brother from Chicago’s well publicized gun violence.

After a 5 year hiatus from the stage, Pia is now releasing her new EP entitled The Return that documents her journey in musical form with a rich and soulful delivery that Pia is known for.

The Return includes 5 tracks written and performed by Pia Renee that touches on her love for music, an emotionally-unavailable boyfriend, violence in Chicago, fear of commitment, and self-acceptance.

As the self-proclaimed love child of Grace Jones & Sly Stone, with Meshell Ndegeocello as her imaginary big sister, Pia Renee definitely brings a refreshing style and sound to today’s music scene.
