Last night, Motown Records hosted an album listening event for BJ the Chicago Kid’s upcoming debut with the label. After being introduced by Motown VP of A&R Rex Rideout, the man who signed him, BJ took the stage and performed new material from the project. He then took a minute to speak on the album’s creation, revealing that the title will “In My Mind” and that it’s set to release in the Fall. As he introduced each song, listeners were able to get a feel for the soulful, bass heavy sound he’s been cooking up. The vibe of the project is very unique in that it doesn’t sound like anything out right now, but very familiar in that he pays homage to soul legends. BJ also announced the next single would be “Church” featuring Chance the Rapper. Stay tuned as the new music is rolled out over the next few months.
