This past Wednesday at Sol Village, RL gave a memorable performance as part of the Sol Village showcase. In a true testament to the lasting impact of timeless rnb, RL proved his legacy will live on forever as the audience sang along to hit after hit. He sounded amazing as he commanded the stage backed by The Collective band, belting out his hits with Next including “Too Close”, “Wifey”, and “Butta Love”. As we’ve seen him triumpantly do before, he also touched on a couple of songs he wrote including Jaheim’s “Anything” and “Just in Case”.
A real treat was at the end of his set when be brought out special guest Naughty by Nature to perform with him. For those unaware of the history behind it, RL was originally discovered by Kay Gee of the group and developed as an artist with them. Naughty performed a few of their biggest hits including “OPP” and “Hip Hop Hooray” and the crowd went nuts, waiving their hands and singing along.
This was truly a special night for RnB. As RL continues on his journey as a solo artist and prepares for the release of his album “5:15”, it’s clear that he will be able to successfully build upon his timeless legacy in rnb.
