Earlier this week, the duo of Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, aka Louis York, hosted the Weirdo Workshop event in NYC. Press, tastemakers and industry personnel packed into a church themed event space as drinks were served and an artist played the harp on stage. As Louis York emerged, they spent the evening not only introducing themselves as new artists, but they also presented three new artists they’ve been working with as well. Known for their writing and production talents through the years, Claude and Chuck are on a mission to go against the grain and create music without succumbing to the expectations that anyone has for them. The result is a diverse set of artists who’ve come together with a diverse set of sounds, but all equally talented and unique. Especially impressive was the surprise that RaVaughn re-emerged as part of her new group The Shindellas, bringing us a retro/rnb/doo-wop sound. Also introduced was a rock/soul artist named Masha, and Kes who had a carribiean/soulful vibe. Each of the artists performed some of their new material, including Louis York who did a few songs in addition to their current single “Clair Huxtable”. It was a great night for music as it proved artistry is alive and well. Check out our photos from the event below.
