Last night at The Box in NYC, Epic Records and YRB Magazine hosted the EP release event for Marcus Canty’s debut project “THIS…Is Marcus Canty”. In front of fans, supporters, taste makers, media and label staff including L.A. Reid, Marcus gave an impressive introduction to his EP. Although he shined with his vocals covering hits like Maxwell’s “This Woman’s Work” on this evening, he proved to be a true entertainer, dancing his way through his singles “Used by You” and “In and Out”. Showing he’s got moves in the mold of Usher and Ginuwine, he worked in perfect sync with his background dancers who he gracefully moved around the stage with. Although still a younger cat, he smoothly brought a fan from the audience and serenaded her on stage like a veteran. If it’s one thing that was solidified on this evening, it’s that Marcus Canty has all of the ingredients to be a star. The sky is the limit for young Marcus, and it will be exciting to see just how far he goes.
