This was the second chance I had to check out an “Acoustic Conversation” hosted by Singersroom (the first was Tank, click here to see recap), and I’ve got to hand it to them they did it again. This time the star of the evening was Kelly Price who had just released her album “Kelly” the previous day. You never quite know what to expect in these intimate type of events, and I can attest that the crowd got more than they ever bargained for on this occasion. In my opinion, Kelly Price is the perfect artist to showcase in this type of event because not only is she super humble and engaging to the fans, but she will also give you a taste of singing like you probably haven’t heard live in a while; and that’s exactly what happened on this evening. Not only did she blow away the audience with her vocals on some of the hits that highlighted her career, but she also took the time to engage us with stories from each era. One of the highlights of the night was Kelly performing “Friend of Mine” remix and pulling two of her fans on stage to sing the parts of R. Kelly and Mr. Biggs. This was followed by former American Idol finalist Anwar Robinson serenading her with his rendition of “You Are So Beautiful”. At this point, Kelly was in tears as she thanked the crowd so sincerely for allowing her to even have a career and do music. If you took a look around you room, you’d see many trying to hold back tears during this touching moment. Overall, you’ve got to hand it to Singersroom for putting on this amazing event.
