Check out BJ the Chicago Kid’s remake of Ella Mai’s song “Close”. The singer felt compelled to respond to the original song so he put his own spin on it from a male perspective. He adds about the inspiration:
“I think it’s something really special about songs that can speak in a new, but nostalgic way. This song did just that for me, so I felt compelled to offer the male perspective. Shout out to Ella Mai for the dope job and inspiration.”
Earlier this year, BJ also provided a unique cover of H.E.R.’s “Could’ve Been”. He also collaborated with Anderson .Paak on Oxnard last year.
His most recent project was the “Opening Ceremony” EP last year, and we current await the follow up to his Motown Records debut “In My Mind”.
Good Work Chicago Kid
