To celebrate the release of her new album “Braveheart”, Ashanti performed an album release show at BB King’s in NYC last night. It was a homecoming for the New York native who after 6 years since her last release has made a triumphant return to the r&b charts and the stage. Her DJ opened up the evening, hyping up the packed audience with many New York anthems as well as many Ashanti’s former labelmate Ja Rule’s biggest hits. When she finally hit the stage, it was hard for her to keep her composure as she was received by her screaming fans. After opening with singing the hooks to many of her biggest featured hits, she shed a few tears as she discussed the hate and pain she’s gone through on this journey to make it back. The tears didn’t last long though, and she confidently commanded the stage while performing her biggest hits like “Aww Baby”, “Rain on Me”, and “Happy” as well as fan favorites from the new album.
