Ledisi Broadway Wanted

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Ledisi is officially heading back to Broadway. This fall, she will take on her first principal stage role in the new musical WANTED, which begins previews at The James Earl Jones Theatre on October 15, 2026, ahead of an official opening night on November 8, 2026.

Ledisi will star as Tallulah Clarke, the matriarch of the Clarke family. She joins a powerhouse cast that includes Solea Pfeiffer (Hadestown, Gatsby: An American Myth) as Mary Clarke and Liisi LaFontaine (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Dreamgirls) as Martha Clarke.

The casting was formally announced during “WANTED Unplugged,” an exclusive concert event held at Artist House in Soho that featured intimate performances of the show’s original score.

“I am beyond thrilled to join the cast of Wanted. My first Broadway principal role, and I still can’t believe it,” Ledisi shared in a statement. “I keep thinking about the journey, God’s timing, and the importance of legacy. … Theatre has always been part of my vision as a storyteller. This isn’t a pivot… It’s another expansion of me. And I’m just getting started.”

Set in Texas in 1893, WANTED is based on the mostly true story of Mary and Martha Clarke, Black twin sisters who pass for white and hide in plain sight. As powerful forces threaten their family, the sisters are driven to desperate, outlaw measures to save their mother and reclaim their long-denied legacy.

The production features a book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri—who is a real-life descendant of the Sisters Clarke—and music by Richard Rodgers Award-winning composer Ross Baum. Tony Award-nominee Stevie Walker-Webb will direct, with choreography by Chelsey Arce. Both Chéri and Baum have recently garnered significant industry recognition, with Chéri named to Variety’s “10 Broadway Stars to Watch for 2025” and both creators featured on The Washington Post’s “POST NEXT” list of influential figures for 2026.

For Ledisi, WANTED adds to a decorated career defined by commanding live performances and vocal excellence. The classically trained vocalist recently earned two 2025 Grammy nominations for her sixteenth studio album, The Crown. While she previously appeared on Broadway in Caroline, or Change (2004) and Hair (2004), WANTED marks her debut as a principal lead.

Presale tickets for the production will be available starting Tuesday, June 16, at 10:00 AM ET for fans who register online. General public ticket sales will launch the following week on Tuesday, June 23, at 10:00 AM ET. Group ticketing is currently open for parties of 10 or more.

Additional casting and creative team details are expected to be announced at a later date.
