Back in 2000, Usher was preparing to release “All About U” as the follow up to his highly successful “My Way” album. “Pop Ya Coller” was released as the first single, but for whatever reason the project got shelved leaving most of the material unreleased. He would then get back into the studio and record the highly successful “8701” album with help from The Neptunes, Jermaine Dupri and others, so all was soon forgotten. However, one song that was left behind was the Warryn Campbell produced “Just a Friend”, which was eventually recorded by Mario as “Just a Friend 2002” and became a hit. Mario went on to become a star as well, but it’s interesting to think about how things would have played out if Usher had kept the song and released the “All About U” album.
