Jill Scott, a three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, has released her latest single, “Pressha.” The track serves as the second preview of her upcoming sixth studio album, To Whom This May Concern, which is scheduled for release on February 13. The project is being issued independently through Scott’s Blues Babe imprint, with distribution handled by Human Re Sources/The Orchard.
“Pressha” was co-produced by Scott, Vincent “VT” Tolan, and Adam Blackstone for BASSic Black Entertainment. The song features a jazz-oriented arrangement featuring both Blackstone and Tolan on bass, accompanied by live horns and improvisational elements. The lyrics address societal pressures, including beauty standards and status, while detailing a narrative regarding the pursuit and eventual dissolution of a romantic relationship.
The forthcoming album To Whom This May Concern marks Scott’s first full-length studio release in several years. The project consists of 19 tracks and includes a diverse range of guest performers and producers. Featured artists on the project include Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack & Too $hort.
The album features production contributions from DJ Premier, Om’Mas Keith, Andre Harris, Trombone Shorty, Camper, Seige Montracity, Eric Wortham, DW Wright, and the “Pressha” production team of Blackstone and Tolan.
“Pressha” follows the release of the album’s lead single, “Beautiful People.” Both tracks are currently available for digital download and streaming on all major music platforms.
